Preferred Tuition Rates: Active Duty Military Students

Eligibility for active duty military tuition rates is subject to the student’s submission of required documentation. You will be required to provide a copy of your most current Leave and Earnings Statement (LES) to verify your active duty status which must be updated on an annual basis. Preferred Tuition Rates: Military Retirees/Veterans and Military Spouse

Eligibility for military tuition rates is subject to the student’s submission of required documentation.

Veterans: a copy of your DD214 – honorably discharged or general, under honorable conditions. If you need to request a copy of your DD214, see instructions at: www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records or www.ebenefits.va.gov.

In addition to spouses of active duty military personnel, spouses of retired or discharged military personnel are eligible for the military spouse preferred tuition rate. The documents needed are:

  1. DD214 - honorably discharged/general, under honorable conditions (Veteran) or LES (Active Mil)
  2. Marriage License or Death Certificate

Additional Military Tuition Benefits

Military Tuition Assistance (TA)
If you are currently serving on active duty, in a reserve component, or as a member of the National Guard you may be eligible for funding offered through the Department of Defense Tuition Assistance program. Check your eligibility status and the amount for which you qualify with your branch of service. For assistance with additional resources available to you, contact Military Admissions at militaryadmissions@ncu.edu or call toll free at 877-683-4776.

Department of Veterans Affairs Education Benefits
As a service member or veteran you may be eligible for education benefits offered by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). For example, The Post 9/11 GI Bill® provides financial support for education and housing to individuals with at least 90 days of aggregate service on or after September 11, 2001, or individuals discharged with a service-connected disability after 30 days. You must have received an honorable discharge to be eligible for the Post-9/11 GI Bill®.
Education benefits offered by VA include:

  • Post 9/11 GI Bill® (Chapter 33)
  • Montgomery GI Bill® – Active Duty (Chapter 30)
  • Montgomery GI Bill® – Selected Reserve (Chapter 1606)

The Yellow Ribbon Program
NCU is a proud participant in the Post 9/11 GI Bill® Yellow Ribbon Program. The Yellow Ribbon Program provides additional funding to eligible Post 9/11 GI Bill® recipients should their tuition charges exceed the maximum funding limit as determined by the VA each academic year. Military Family Members
