Kristin Bernet, MLIS

Mrs. Bernet joined Northcentral University in 2016 as the Associate Librarian. Prior to being named Associate Librarian, Mrs. Bernet was an Instructional Librarian at the Harpeth Hall School in Nashville, TN, and a Distance Education librarian at The Johns Hopkins University. She has presented at several professional librarian conferences, including the American Library Association’s Annual conference, The Distance Library Services conference, and has served in various leadership roles within LITA’s Library Instruction Round Table. 

Mrs. Bernet has been an advocate for increasing diversity within the library profession and in children's literature. She has been an active member with the Black Caucus of the American Library Association and has been involved in the “We Need Diverse Books” campaign since its fledging days as a trending hashtag. Mrs. Bernet was recently an invited speaker on a panel with Award winning author Sharon Draper, to discuss diversity in children's literature at the Nashville Central Public Library. 

Mrs. Bernet completed her Master of Library and Information in 2009 at the Catholic University of America. Additionally, she graduated from American University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts in History.
