Northcentral University Unveils New Look That Reaffirms Core Mission and Values

Introduction of new identity reflects the University’s innovative approach to online education that emphasizes faculty-student interaction.

Prescott Valley, Arizona, February 23, 2010 — Set against a backdrop of rising enrollments, expanding programs, and a growing recognition of the excellence of its educational philosophy by industry peers, Northcentral University (www.ncu.edu), an innovator in 100% online education, today introduced a new identity that reaffirms its core mission and values. According to Dr. Clinton Gardner, President of the University, the new look has already been introduced on the University’s Web site and is now being implemented in all internal and external communications vehicles that represent the image of the school.

"Our new look better reflects the core mission and values that make this great University such a center of excellence in contemporary higher education,” Gardner said today. "It incorporates graphic, color, and typographical elements that, when joined together, project a dynamic image that fully conveys the way learning is pursued here every day by Students, faculty, administrators, and staff.”

A New Look With A Vision of the Future:
According to Ron Hendricks, Chief Marketing Officer of the University, the new identity has been under development for the last nine months and is the result of an extensive dialogue with the entire University community. "As a result every component of the new identity plays an important part in communicating what this University stands for,” Hendricks explained.

The multiple colors that come together and interact represent the multi-faceted nature of higher education, as pursued at Northcentral University — a pursuit that emphasizes teacher-student interaction, diversity, and learning. The color blue represents the importance of teaching and the richness of opportunities that knowledge can bring to both students and teachers. The color burnt orange reflects the University’s roots in the great southwest. The overlapping shapes on either side of the flame represent the faculty mentored relationship between student and teacher. The flame itself is a reminder of the enlightenment that education produces. Finally, the conceptual mark, fusing traditional and modern typefaces, produces a melding together of the progressive and the established elements that always define a true learning environment.

A Singular Devotion to Innovation Creates a Brighter Future for the Many:
Since its founding in 1996, Northcentral University has pioneered the concept of a 100% online higher education learning environment, providing a much needed alternative to the classroom-based model that had been the standard in American education for more than two centuries. Today, Northcentral University continues to distinguish itself from other online programs in fundamentally important ways.

• It was the first 100% online university to offer accredited Doctoral degrees.
• It is one of only eight schools worldwide to receive accreditation by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), and the only 100% online institution that offers Doctoral, Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees to receive this honor.

Today’s introduction of a new University identity is set against a backdrop of continued growth and expansion. In December 2009 the University announced that it was renaming its School of Psychology the School of Behavioral & Health Sciences in conjunction with the introduction of a totally new series of degree programs that emphasize research and practice. In October 2009, the University introduced the first 100% online marriage and family therapy master’s and doctoral degree programs designed to meet the standards of the American Association of Marriage & Family Therapy (AAMFT). In September 2009 the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools extended its accreditation for a five-year period that runs through 2013.

In August 2009 G.I. Jobs magazine named the University a "2010 Military Friendly School,” placing it in the top 15% of all colleges, universities, and trade schools nationwide. Also in August, Northcentral University received certification to participate in Title IV financial aid programs. In July 2009, the University received a "2009 Best Buy” award from GetEducated.com for its Bachelor in Business Administration degree programs. Also in July, the Federal Bureau of Investigation named Northcentral University a partner in its University Education Program. In May 2009, the University’s Computer Information Security Program was certified at the highest level by the U.S. Department of Defense’s National Security Systems (CNSS).
