About the School of Marriage and Family Sciences
Becoming a marriage and family therapist is more than just a job—it’s about helping individuals, couples and families navigate the natural stressors and unexpected challenges of life and come out better and stronger than before. NCU's School of Marriage and Family Sciences offers online certificate, master's and PhD program in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) designed to help you acquire the knowledge, skills, practical application and values that will shape you into a competent, ethical and culturally sensitive marriage and family therapist.
Client contact is an essential part of NCU’s Marriage and Family Therapy training programs. While our standard coursework is administered online, you will complete a practicum and internship sequence that includes direct client contact and supervision in your local area.
Northcentral’s MAMFT is the first distance-based MFT program to receive accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE).
Northcentral’s PhD MFT is the first and currently only distance-based doctoral program to receive COAMFTE’s coveted programmatic accreditation, ensuring that the University’s program aligns with national accreditation standards.
All of our MFT faculty have a doctorate and are active marriage and family therapists or supervisors. They continue to contribute to the MFT field through research, presenting at conferences or publishing books and articles.
