A full-time Accounting Professor, Greg earned an EdD degree from NCU in April 2007 with a specialization in Education Technology
Management. He received his MBA from Lamar University and his BA from the University of Texas at Austin. He has worked at a community
college for the past 28 years as an accounting instructor, department head and supervisor. He is currently a full-time accounting
instructor. Greg plans on retiring in a few years and he is in the process of forming his own educational consulting business.
"I researched many doctoral programs. I have always had an interest in instructional technology. NCU allowed me to specialize
in Education Technology Management. I plan on retiring from teaching in a few years and will work as an educational consultant.
My coursework at NCU has prepared me to start my own business. The educational program at NCU is outstanding. My coursework was
stimulating and the mentors were very supportive. Overall, I enjoyed the EdD program and would recommend it to other potential
students."

I have been involved in program evaluation, social policy research and program development and consultation for over 12 years.
Presently I work for NPC Research as a Research Associate/Project Director. I have been involved in program evaluation, social
policy research and program development and consultation for over 12 years. My expertise includes program technical assistance, multi-site
project coordination and management, evaluation design, database management, field data collection methods, and quantitative and qualitative
data analysis. My primary interest areas are in juvenile substance use prevention and child welfare policy. An applied psychologist
by training, I have worked as a substance use counselor, college advisor, adjunct faculty member, and adoptive parent counselor.
My experience at NCU was extremely positive. In 1999 family obligations necessitated my withdrawal from a PhD program. Upon learning about
NCU I realized that my dream of completing a PhD could come true. Holding down a full-time, demanding job, parenting two children, and
maintaining a relationship, I knew the self-paced at-a-distance format was the only way I could complete my degree. Thanks to the excellent
staff and faculty at NCU I no longer have to dream about completing my education; my focus now is on how to make best use of the
solid education and training NCU provided.

"Before coming to NCU I had already earned a B.A., M.A., and PhD. in Communicative disorders and was quite published in the
communicative disorders industry. But since going back to school through the NCU system I've been literally drenched in new material
and research, and feel much sharper and more prepared to contribute a great deal more to the literature in our field."
"I can say that this has been by far the highest quality online
program of any that I've been exposed to. And the Mentor quality is the best you'll find anywhere.
One thing that will strike you quickly after enrolling is how much like a campus we feel with students, mentors and advisors. The
quality of our peers is impressive, to say the least, and you have lots of opportunities to communicate and interact almost like a
"class" — some of my fellow learners have been with their program and taking the same courses in tandem with me, so you get to
know some of them pretty well. When it comes time to put your degree to use, these same "classmates" can save a lot of the uncertainty
that sometimes goes with finding the best opportunities.
I hope you have as rewarding experience working your way through the NCU experience as I had. One thing for sure, at NCU they hold
their standards of scholarship high, and from wherever you start, you'll surely be lifted to the next level.

Arizona. I am a distance educator and teach Computer Information Systems, Office Automation Systems, and Business Computer classes
including Business English, Doing Business on the Internet, Microsoft applications, and Introduction to the Internet.
Prior to becoming residential faculty six years ago, I was the Director of Instructional Technology at Mesa Community College and before
that time I was Coordinator of Instructional Technology at Rio Salado College.
I absolutely loved my experience at NCU! As a distance educator myself, I found the format excellent — it worked well within my busy
lifestyle. The mentors were fabulous and wonderful to work with. Having said all that, it’s a lot of work! But that is what we expect
from a university with a commitment to quality teaching and learning in a higher education environment. I hope you enjoy your experience
as much as I did.

"My experience with Northcentral has been nothing but outstanding. If there are three words that reflect my experience they are flexible,
rigorous, and responsive."
"One of the key factors that attracted me to Northcentral was the flexibility to manage my own process. I wanted a program that would
allow me to move at my own pace and that would not have artificial impediments to my progress. NCU provided that every step of the way."
"Flexibility does not mean easy. The program was rigorous and my Mentors were outstanding. I learned much and I was pleased with how
well one course fit with the next. A number times what I learned in the previous course was just what I needed to address issues in
the course I was taking. The bane of on-line programs is slow feedback from faculty and inattentive administrative staff. That was far from
the case for me. Feedback was rapid and substantive and my issues were always addressed quickly and thoroughly."
"As a final note: I found Northcentral because a student shared her excitement with me. I would be delighted to share my excitement
and satisfaction with others."

I am a Senior Program Manager for an engineering consulting firm responsible for expanding and managing its UXO business line. During my free time,
I grade papers and sail the beautiful waters of San Diego. I am a mentor for several online programs because I value education and the
exchange of ideas with focused, bright people striving to improve themselves. I am very proud of being a graduate of Northcentral University
and look forward to discussing my experiences with anyone interested in continuing one’s education.
I have combined both a military career and a civilian career. I started out on the East Coast, attending the U.S. Naval Academy, where I
received a Bachelor of Science degree and was commissioned a Naval officer. My assignments in the 20 years that I served in the Navy provided
me with the opportunity to travel throughout the Western Pacific and varied from operational to staff to training organizations. My
responsibilities ranged from being an officer in charge of a half dozen sailors to being in command of over 600 personnel with an annual
budget of $4 million.
While in the Navy, I recognized the need to pursue more education in order to be competitive for promotions and expand my future opportunities
once I left the Navy. I attended Pepperdine University and earned an MBA degree. I earned a PhD in Business Administration with a major in
Management at Northcentral University.
I have more than 30 years of experience in the Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) and Range Services industry. My responsibilities have included program
and project management; training and quality assurance of work performance; scheduling; budgeting; tracking materials and resources; coordinating
subcontractor work; and complying with all health, safety, environmental analysis, and site protection rules and regulations. Currently, I am
a Senior Program Manager for an engineering consulting firm and responsible for expanding and managing its UXO business line. The knowledge
that I obtained through my terminal degree at NCU is put to use on a daily basis.
The education at NCU is superb. The ability to complete a program at one’s own pace that is individually designed based on one’s interests
provides the flexibility to be in total control of one’s own destiny. NCU mentors are devoted professionals interested in one’s success.

and doctoral program that I selected. I decided that NCU and its staff offered the program that could help me realize a life-long

excellent. The entire NCU experience was extremely rewarding and challenging, so much so that I have referred a number of

As a result of completing my Ed. D in School Leadership, I have received a substantial increase in pay from the Department of Juvenile
services. I have been placed on their highest pay scale with a doctorate degree. In my recent job evaluation, I was ranked Exceeds
Standards in all categories a 3.6 on a 1-4 scale. I have accepted an adjunct teaching position at a local college next January. Obtaining
my degree from NCU in November ’07 Ha opened greater opportunities to me.
My personal experience with the university and program is that it enabled me to accomplish the learning goals that were set for the
degree. The active self-learning format works for this program. I was able to enhance my knowledge and skills as well as my intellectual,
analytic and critical thinking abilities. The program enabled me to apply the knowledge from this course to life experiences in my job
and personal life. The NCU program was great and met all my expectations in such areas as the mentor feedback, course outline and expectations.
My mentor and committee chair, Dr. Pellegrini, was extremely helpful at every stage and offered encouraging and skilful advice at
difficult and critical points in the research process. The course offered a great opportunity for learning as I was able to complete
my Dissertation in a reasonably shorter time than was anticipated. There was a lot of work to be done but the program is designed in such a
way to make learning exciting and easy. I have no doubts that most students will enjoy their experience at NCU with the dedicated mentors,
state of the art curricula and, compared to similar colleges, low tuition rates.
Originally from Sierra Leone, West Africa, I have attended many universities both overseas and in the United States but found NCU to be the
best institution of higher learning for all the reasons outlined above. Many of my friends attending traditional colleges are still struggling
with their degree with no end in sight, some have spent over seven years on their degree program and many have dropped out. NCU is the perfect
institution, one that offers affordable tuition and ample resources, enabling you to succeed, even with a busy schedule.

My name is Dr. Thomas Jama and this is my eighteenth year in the field of public education. These years have taken me through many
positions in the educational field with a wealth of experiences. I started my educational career in 1988 after graduating with a BS in
Education from Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania, where my major was early childhood/elementary education. I landed my first
teaching position as a kindergarten teacher in the Lorain City Schools, Lorain, Ohio. This four-year experience was truly wonderful;
I enjoyed every minute. I discovered that I was one of the first male kindergarten teachers in my home of Lorain, and the job gave
new meaning to the movie “Kindergarten Cop.” When the district I was in started having financial difficulties, I was transferred to
a third grade position for one year until that position was eliminated due to financial constraints. I was then assigned to a program
teaching 8th grade math to “at-risk” 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th graders. These students were members of the Jump Start Program which was
housed in a separate facility. The majority of these students were alcohol and drug addicted, and were on probation/parole. I loved
this program and became the school’s administrator the following year. At that time, I was also finishing my Masters Degree in Educational
Administration from Ashland University. I remained at Jump Start for four years and learned a lot about kids, their families, the court
system, and how educators can make a difference.
I am currently working in the Elyria City School District located in Elyria, Ohio. I am in my eleventh year in Elyria, and currently
hold the position of junior high principal at Northwood Junior High. Northwood is a building which houses approximately 425 seventh
and eighth graders. Our school utilizes the teaming approach to learning and has adopted the Effective Schools Model as our
framework for continuous improvement. Prior to becoming the principal at Northwood, I was an elementary principal in the Elyria
Schools for two years at a kindergarten-through-sixth-grade building. I came to the Elyria Schools from the Jump Start Program
as an assistant junior high principal at the building where I am currently serving as the principal. During the last few years
I completed additional graduate classes from Ashland University to receive my superintendent’s license.
I am writing this section about Northcentral University after completing my Ed.D. degree three days ago. I cannot say enough about
NCU and the doctoral program which allowed me to finish this degree while still being a father, husband, and building principal.
The support and communication provided by the university staff was truly outstanding. I would like to give a special thanks to my
two main mentors, Dr. Anthony Pellegrini and Dr. Heather McDaniel, for being fantastic educators throughout the program.
The Ed.D. program at NCU provided a rigorous set of classes culminating with a dissertation. These challenging classes gave me
the opportunity to grow professionally. The dissertation provided the opportunity to explore a problem and collect data within
the school district where I am employed. I have recommended NCU to colleagues and highly recommend the university to all
learners.
Finally, I would like to share a little personal information with all of you. I am the proud father of two boys ages fourteen and
sixteen. I am married to my wonderful wife of eighteen years who has supported me through all these classes, the dissertation, and
different professional opportunities. My hobbies include family activities, riding the many roller coasters at Cedar Point, and
watching college football (especially the Ohio State Buckeyes). I would like to wish current and future students at NCU the best
of luck. Feel free to email me with any questions.

I selected Northcentral University for my doctoral work due to the convenience of the program. I especially found
appealing the fact that I could work at my own desired pace. Instructors were always flexible, yet administered a program that
facilitated learning with an appropriate level of rigor for a respected doctoral program. I found that instructors, advisors,

After ‘talking’ and ‘dreaming’ for quite some time about pursuing a course of studies leading towards a PhD, I
finally took the ‘plunge’ and am now enrolled at NCU as a PhD candidate in Business Administration, with a specialization in Public
Administration. To date, the experience has been a wonderful surprise! Why a surprise? Not only are the courses academically
demanding (in a very positive sense), but extremely relevant to my ‘day job’ as well as my teaching work. In short, each course
results in learning ‘transferability.’ i.e., I can readily put to use many of the concepts, techniques, and ideas to my
professional work-life environment as a government executive as well as a university professor. Additionally, the instructors
are truly ‘guides by the side’ and, when necessary, ‘sages on the stage.’ Two-way feedback is the norm, thus making the
student-instructor interaction a wonderful thing, indeed!
In a nutshell, the virtual classroom environment of NCU is equivalent to a ‘bricks and mortar,’ traditional classroom experience
with much emphasis on an ongoing instructor-student interaction. Of great import to a working professional ‘road warrior’ with
myriad responsibilities is NCU’s wonderful flexibility of allowing one to progress as fast as one’s abilities allow in that a
"new’ term begins on the first of each month.
I am a ‘classic’ adult, returning student for whom an online learning environment is ‘tailor-made!’ My academic credentials
consist of: Master’s degree in Public Administration (Golden Gate University); Bachelor of Arts degree in Business
Studies and Management (University of Maryland); Associate of Arts degree in Resource Management Technology (Community
College of the Air Force); and 29 post-graduate semester hours in Curriculum Development from Old Dominion University.
Since 1980, I have taught over 560 courses (of this total, over 50 were online) with the University of Maryland (Europe),
City Colleges of Chicago (Europe), Troy State University (Europe), Southern Illinois University (Europe), Hampton University,
Saint Leo University and Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. I’m also a senior member of the Institute of Industrial

"I was extremely impressed with NCU's commitment to the Learners! I have taken online classes at other institutions that
left students to figure out the process on their own. Without NCU, I would not have been able to complete my MBA in five

"A doctorate from NCU has assisted me in realizing a lifelong dream to be a college instructor. Even as a child, I
would hold "summer school" for the younger neighbors. I love to read and help others expand their horizons. In high school,

I have been a high school teacher for 14 years. The subjects that I have taught include algebra, general math, consumer math,
technology, health, and physical education. I am also a coach and mentor for beginning teachers, and a professional development
provider for the district’s Induction Academy. I wanted to earn an Ed.D. specializing in Teacher Leadership to improve my skills
and also to give me more respect and credibility with my colleagues and my students’ parents. I am the only staff member at the
high school who has an Ed.D. It has definitely lived up to those expectations.
Going through the process at NCU was humbling and empowering. I became more disciplined, resourceful, and organized. I was so
excited and driven through the learning progression, that I was able to complete my Ed.D program in one year and 10 months.
The self-directed program fit into my lifestyle — in fact I was still able to maintain my 14-year perfect attendance record
with the school district. Many of my colleagues have been working on their doctorates for over seven years in the traditional classroom
setting, and they have still not reached their goals.
I have been able to apply what I have learned into my classroom and leadership
positions and the experience has given me the confidence to apply for other positions in the field of education. The NCU mentors
were superb and they surpassed my expectations when I meet them in person at the 2007 graduation. Because of my enriching experience
at NCU, I hope to also complete a Ph.D program in education through NCU sometime in the future.

When I started at NCU, I was afraid that I would have difficulty maintaining
the discipline needed to complete the self-paced course work. I quickly found that I pushed myself to complete the course work

is so very true. By selecting courses that have a significant meaning to you, you will gain so much more out of the learning experience.

A Budget Accounting Program Manager for a governmental entity, I have over 20 year’s experience in all areas of accounting and budgeting.
Most of my experience is in the governmental and the not-for profit sectors. I am a Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO) and a
Certified Management Accountant (CMA). Since 2000, I have been actively involved in the Florida Government Finance Officers Association
(FGFOA). I have been chair of the FGFOA certification committee for the past two years and a committee member for three years. Several
months after earning my MBA from NCU, I received a position upgrade from my employer where I am primarily responsible for performing
complex fiscal analysis such as monitoring budget variances, tracking available revenue, and ensuring budgetary control as well as
regulatory compliance for our $450 million budget.
When researching accredited on-line programs to pursue my MBA, Northcentral University clearly stood out as a premier institution.
As an experienced professional with numerous personal and professional obligations on my time, the ability to pursue my degree
required the program to be truly flexible. The course format at NCU that allows students to take up to 12 weeks to finish a class
enabled me to take courses at my own pace. When demands on my time were high, I took the full time to complete a class. Conversely,
when I had less demands and more time to devote to my studies, I finished the course early. Moreover, most on-line MBA programs have
set courses that have to be taken and in a specific order. Whereas At NCU the learner has a wide variety of classes to select from as
well as the ability to choose the order of classes. Thus, students can concentrate on taking classes that will benefit them the most in
their particular field of study. Finally, I found the mentors and staff at NCU to be extremely knowledgeable and helpful. My experience
with NCU was great in every aspect. Even in hindsight I know that NCU was the best choice for me.
I started my accounting career after completing my associate’s degree in 1979. Although I was working in the field and acquiring
valuable on the job training, it was always my desire to continue my formal education. Thus, I became interested in pursuing a nontraditional
educational format with a fully accredited institution. I earned my bachelor’s degree from Upper Iowa University’s Distance Learning Program
that met this criterion, so I am very familiar with non-traditional educational formats and what it takes to be successful. For instance,
on-line degree programs work best for individuals who are self-starters, highly motivated, and able to learn without a lot of group
interaction. I will be honored to share my experiences and offer my insights to your questions. I wish you good luck as you pursue
your educational aspirations.

Technology-Aviation Safety. Some 32 flight-ready aircraft, including turboprop twin engine and several gliders are available for flight
training. In addition the university has a hot air balloon which may be used to earn a balloonist rating. Student organizations include
our flight team, Alpha Eta Rho National aviation Fraternity, and PAMA, the Professional Aviation Maintenance Association.
When I first started my university career as a student in 1970, learning was view by institutions as a completely different experience
than it is viewed today at NCU. Course objectives were primarily achieved through a series of rather boring lectures, readings, and
possibility a class project, a mid-term and final examination. I never recall filling out a course questionnaire or being allowed to share
my feelings about courses with college officials. Today’s learning environment at NCU, especially when it comes to learning adults, is
much different than times past. Today, the NCU mentor works to strengthen the importance, dignity, potential, and unique nature of each
learning adult within the NCU academic setting. Working with my NCU mentors I fulfilled my dream of earning a PhD in Business Administration.

"Because of NCU, I have realized my academic goal of receiving a PhD from a regionally accredited institution; if not for NCU this
academic goal would not have happened. Combined with my practical management experience in the field, earning a PhD from NCU provides the
right credentials and experiences to achieve my long-term career goals in higher education administration and leadership. NCU provided a
convenient and flexible schedule, yet challenging curriculum and work load. The mentors were very knowledgeable about the subjects and
responsive to adult learning needs. Finally, NCU is affordable in comparison to other distant learning regionally accredited institutions.
I am very familiar with many post-secondary institutions and I strongly recommend NCU to other prospective learners.”

I am president of AvEx International Corporation and also Associate Professor in the Department of Aviation and
Aerospace Science at Metropolitan State College of Denver.
My selection as an associate professor at Metropolitan State College is a direct result of my studies at NCU.
Another result is that, thanks to assistance from my dissertation chairman, Dr. Olin Oedekoven and dissertation
committee members, my/our dissertation—Examining United States Naval Academy Alumni Perspectives on Rational
Gender Stereotype—has been selected to be presented at conferences in Perth, Australia; Dublin, Ireland; and
Washington, D.C.
My company, AvEx International, serves as a subcontractor to the FedEx Home Delivery Division and has more
than doubled corporate revenues and profits over the past three years—during which time I was a doctoral
Learner at NCU. I am also pleased to be associated with Metropolitan State: MSCD is the fifth-largest aviation
undergraduate program in the United States and offers the only four-year aviation program in the State of Colorado.
What a tremendous journey was NCU! After earning an undergraduate degree in engineering from the U.S.
Naval Academy and two master’s degrees at brick and mortar institutions, I was initially skeptical about
embarking on my doctoral education online at NCU. The Bible’s Matthew 8:26 might have been referring to me where
is say, “O ye of little faith.”
The journey at NCU turned out to be a wonderful pedagogical adventure—didactic, challenging and rewarding.
The NCU mentors are caring, professional and personify the epistemological process of learning. In all my
educational voyages, I was never more professionally challenged.
NCU is the exemplary gold standard not only in the efficient and effective presentation of an online doctoral
program, but also in the delivery of a quintessential educational program and learning environment.

Melanie teaches elementary music with a Department of Defense School in Germany. E-Mail: Melshaw3@yahoo.com
My name is Melanie Shaw and I received a PhD in Education with a specialization in Curriculum and Teaching from NCU in
August, 2006. I earned my undergraduate degree from Excelsior College in Liberal Studies/Music. I have a master’s degree from
the University of West Alabama in School Counseling and a master’s degree in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon
University. I have been working as an educator for the last five years. I began substitute teaching in Warner Robins, GA in
2001, while I was completing my undergraduate studies and continued to teach at both elementary and middle schools with the
Department of Defense Schools in Germany. Since that time, I have been working as an elementary music teacher, teaching
kindergarten through fifth grade.
With two small children, a teaching job, and a military family income, NCU was the only option for me to obtain an affordable,
high-quality education while living abroad. In addition to affordability, convenience, and quality, I was also initially attracted to
NCU because of the course-by-course approach to the dissertation. The thought of writing such a substantial piece of research
dissuaded me from pursing a doctoral degree for many years however; I discovered that by breaking the process down into individual
courses I was able to conquer this challenge! An added perk was the one-on-one working relationship with mentors that students
benefit from throughout the program. I grew to know individual faculty members and am proud of the caliber of instruction I
received. Since obtaining my PhD, I have received a salary increase and several job offers for prestigious positions in my field.
NCU is a place of transformation, where you will engage the world through research on current topics in your selected field.
The process will help you develop ideas about who you are and what you may become. During your studies, you will have the chance
to act on passions and develop deep interests. At NCU, you will achieve your potential, develop your intellect, and challenge
yourself to conceptualize and fulfill your highest aims.

Charles E. Sheaffer, Chief Deputy Sheriff for the Dauphin County Sheriffs’ Office.
Chief Deputy Charles E. Sheaffer is a veteran Law Enforcement Officer and is in his thirty-fourth year of service to the
residents of Pennsylvania. Prior to beginning his service with the Dauphin County Sheriff's Office, he held the position of
Juvenile Detective Commander, for a large suburban police department in Central Pennsylvania. Chief Sheaffer was a certified
municipal police instructor and taught basic police procedures for police recruits throughout Pennsylvania. Chief Sheaffer has
also presented various training programs to the federal government, county government, and the Pennsylvania State Police.
NCU was certainly a great experience. I began my graduate education after I turned fifty, so I was very apprehension about
proceeding. I did not want to sit in a traditional classroom setting with fellow students who were the age of my children.
Moreover, I was working full time and coaching youth sports. My time was limited and very structured. My goal was to find
an accredited university who could provide the flexibility and expediency I needed. NCU has easily met or exceeded all my
desires. The MBA program was stimulating and fit well into my busy lifestyle and schedule. The courses were fun, engaging
and affordable. The mentors were very accessible and provided the necessary feedback for success. The NCU support staff has
exceeded all my expectations. Overall, I loved the MBA program and had a wonderful experience at NCU.
I would encourage my fellow law enforcement officers to consider NCU. Police work today is much different than it was thirty years
ago. Today’s law enforcement officers must be well educated to balance the needs of their community with the ever changing
criminal justice system. My career as a law enforcement officer was time consuming. Frequent shift changes, overtime, and
weekend duties, made it impossible to pursue a traditional education. I wanted my graduate education to be from a regionally
accredited University which had no residency requirement, and did not require weekly attendance or rigid posting of assignments.
NCU was the only answer. I found the courses to be extremely relevant and applicable to my current administrative position as
Chief Deputy.

Educator, Kimberly Slimak, owns and operates three preschools.
Educator: Since 1985, Kimberly and her husband Michael have owned and operated three large nursery schools/childcare centers.
All three preschools are Nationally Accredited. They employ a staff of over 100 teachers and enroll over 520 children in the three
communities of Westport, Fairfield and Shelton, CT. The schools are progressive early learning centers and their philosophy is to
create a diverse discovery learning environment devoted to promoting each child’s optimum physical, social, emotional and cognitive
development.
The achievement of my NCU Masters Degree in Psychology, a life long goal, was self empowering and enriching as well as
professionally challenging. It has enhanced my child care industry skills, and other professional management expertise. Having my
Masters in Psychology has truly helped me to understand the human condition and relate better to my clients who entrust
their most priceless possessions to us, their children. Our preschool educational, creative and all encompassing curriculum
is vital to the growth of each child. I now hold two degrees, a BA and an MA from NCU, and a teacher’s credential called a
CDA from the National Association for Education of Young Children. My Masters has been a definite asset to my busy and
active career. In the educational field, my Masters degree has aided me in gaining knowledge in dealing with other professionals.
I am seriously considering the pursuit of my PhD. as the professors at NCU are brilliant and inspiring.
Kimberly serves on a town committee in Westport, CT., appointed by the First Selectman in 1995, called the Municipal
Employees Pension Committee. Additionally, she is a member of the League of Woman Voters. "Some past history is that I was
a professional athlete on the freestyle skiing circuit. In 1976 I was ranked tenth in the Nation in Freestyle snow skiing,
and appeared in many skiing print ads in skiing books and magazines. I was the local golf club champion in 1973. I still ski
and play golf between my studies and career! 1977-1985 I worked in New York City as Vice President of Elegance Model and
Talent Agency on Park Avenue and also appeared in many National ads and commercials, while running the talent agency."

"As an assistant professor, I researched doctoral programs closely and chose NCU for several reasons: its faculty and leadership
team, its commitment to rigorous education and the chance to earn an accredited doctorate with no residency requirements. As
a doctoral learner I found all the instructors to be exceptional mentors who guided my learning while allowing me to practice
active self-learning. In fact, I have directed several friends and colleagues to NCU’s programs. I would do the program all over again!"

NCU has been a great experience as a learner and as a professor. With my travel schedule, I needed an institution that was flexible
enough for me to study for my doctorate degree and earn a living. I also wanted to study in an environment where the professors were

considering advancing your studies beyond your current degree plan, please give me a call. I would love to talk to you.

Profession: Firefighter and Paramedic and Marriage and Family Therapist and Mental Health Counselor.
I began my educational journey later than most students. I enrolled at a small liberal arts college at age 25. Everything
about my educational experience was traditional. I had to barter with professors when my job did not allow me to attend classes.
As a career firefighter and paramedic, my job took me away from college every third day. Sitting among the younger students,
I quickly realized that my situation was drastically different from these more traditional students. The struggles in graduate
school were quite similar. In addition, I faced the prospect of organizing family and work time around dual internships--one
at the campus counseling clinic and a second at a large urban hospital/stress center. I was licensed and began a private
practice as a marriage and family therapist and a mental health counselor after completing my master's program.
Northcentral University enabled me to attain my goal of a doctorate while remaining in close proximity to my family, job
and private practice. The quality of instruction was excellent. In addition, the requirements of instructors were every bit
as challenging as in my traditional graduate program. The mentoring at NCU was second to none. My dissertation chairman (Dr.
Richard Jones) was a true mentor. He always available to address my concerns and allowed me to contact him on a daily basis if
needed. In my experience, this was the general attitude of faculty at Northcentral University. As a result, I would recommend NCU
without reservation.
I wanted to chase my dream of a doctoral degree but was torn between this goal and family obligations. My children were growing
up and needed their father at home in the evenings and at sporting events on weekends. My wife was very supportive (she is also
a therapist) during my graduate studies but did miss certain aspects of our life together.

Working in the arena of educational administration myself, I am very proud and satisfied in the various instances I have worked with
NCU advisors and staff. I am also impressed by the format of online classes at NCU. I have taken a number of online classes at other schools and the
method used at NCU is far superior. It is amazing how much one can learn when given the power to control and shape your individual path for understanding.
I currently work at Phoenix College in admissions. I have been here for over 11 years now. I have climbed the ladder so to speak over the
years that I have been here. I started part time at PC when I was a student in 96. Graduated from PC with an AGS and AA with high distinction
in 98 and started working full time as an admissions technician level I. I have progressively moved up to Admissions, registration and service
representative, then admissions technician level II and currently I hold the position of Coordinator of Student Services. Before starting at
PC, I was in the Army in which I served as a mechanic and recovery specialist.
For my decision to go to NCU I researched an extensive group of online and local programs to attain a Bachelors degree. The online
format was not the most important factor for attending NCU. I have always had an interest in Psychology so I decided to check it out. I
viewed the course list requirements and was impressed by the subject matter covered. I was looking for a program that would quickly jump
into the subject matter I was interested in. Having now earned my bachelor's in Psychology at NCU, I am pursuing an MEd degree with a
specialization in higher education leadership.

Hi, my name is Beaton J. Walsh and I have been employed with the local school board for 20 years. For 9 of those years I taught high
school math and science. After completing my Masters degree in Educational Psychology, I worked as a guidance counselor for 6 years.
I then moved to the school board office to take up a position as an educational psychologist. Last December, a program specialist
position became vacant and I was successful in securing this position. In addition to the above, for the past two and one-half years
I have operated a private practice in assessment and counseling.
Having the opportunity to attend NCU via distance education has allowed me to obtain a dream which I thought would be elusive.
Having to take a year off work to obtain my masters degree, I could not afford to take more time away from my work. More importantly,
given that I had a young family, I was not prepared to be separated from them to attend a traditional university. NCU was a great
fit for me and it provided me with a viable alternative to obtain my goal without sacrifice to my job or family. Finally, I firmly
believe that my PhD obtained at NCU contributed significantly to my success in obtaining my current job.
I have been married to my wife Debbie for 18 years. We have two girls, Chloe 11 and Cailey 9.

"Education is a precious commodity and one of the keys to success."
Currently, I teach online Psychology courses. I am also developing the Counseling Component of a program for victims of domestic
violence and sexual assault. After the program is in place, I will supervise and train the masters level counseling interns and
trainees who provide the services. The PhD has been a major contributor to my career in three ways: I have more confidence in
myself; others see me differently because I have the PhD, and I am more knowledgeable regarding certain topic areas.
Obtaining a PhD was a long-time dream for me, but financial and time constraints kept me from taking the first step for years.
When I finally did, I found the course work at NCU to be stimulating and the mentors to be very supportive. I graduated in
2000 — the thought of having a doctorate still brings a smile.
Education is a precious commodity and one of the keys to success. Every child deserves to have this gift, no matter their
ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or perceived learning difficulties. My goal is to be part of the process which allows them to
receive it.
