NCU Kick-Starter Grant
NCU’s goal as an institute of higher education is to prepare our students and graduates to reach higher and fulfill their goals, both professionally and personally. The NCU Kick-Starter Grant was conceived to invest in our graduates and provide the chosen recipients with $20,000 to kick-start their goals and dreams, to make a difference, not just in their own lives, but a positive impact on their communities. Eight eligible students will be chosen based on their written, video or audio essay submissions.
If your submission is one of the eight essays selected, upon graduation, Northcentral University will write you a check for $20,000 to help you kick-start your dream!
The eight NCU Kick-Starter Grant recipients will be announced on April 20, 2016.
Write an essay between 500 and 700 words, or submit a video or audio file between two and three minutes in length, that describes the purpose and motivations behind your goal – and how an NCU Kick-Starter Grant will help you achieve it. In your thesis, state which category you believe your goal falls under. Choose from one of the following categories:
(Choose one category only)
Individual – This goal type is to expand yourself and your own capacities. Examples might include taking time to write a book, launching a consulting service, conducting a research study, etc.
Entrepreneurial – This goal type is to build a for-profit enterprise and opportunities for others. Examples might include creating a new company, expanding your existing counseling center, creating a for-profit tutoring business, turning around a cash-starved company, etc.
Philanthropic – This goal type is to make a difference in nonprofit endeavors. Examples might include launching an inner city charter school, creating a charity, opening a PTSD counseling center, etc.
Other – This category is for goals that defy convention and deserves its own category. Let us know what it is, as long as it describes the purpose and motivations behind your goal – and how an NCU Kick-Starter Grant will help you achieve it.
Only one essay per person may be submitted.
To be considered, essays must be between 500-700 words in .DOC or .DOCX format (maximum two pages, double-spaced) or minimum two to maximum three minute video or audio file (in one of the following formats: .MOV, .MPEG4, .MP4, .MP3, .WAV. .AVI, .MV4, or .WMV not to exceed 25MB) on or before March 28, 2016.
