Dr. John LaNear is the Senior Vice President, Academic Affairs at Northcentral University.

Dr. LaNear joined Northcentral University in 2014 as Vice President, Academic Affairs. Prior to being named Vice President, Academic Affairs, Dr. LaNear was President and CEO of Grantham University, Provost of Ellis University, Vice President of Academic Services and Enrollment Management at Kendall College, Inaugural Director / Faculty Coordinator at Webster University, and Assistant Attorney General in the Missouri Attorney General’s Office.

Dr. LaNear has been published in the Encyclopedia of Education Law, the Journal of Educational Administration, the Journal of Law and Education, the Education Law Reporter, and Student Affairs Law and Policy Weekly. He has given numerous professional presentations for a variety of organizations, including the Association for Study of Higher Education, the Education Law Association, the American Education Research Association, and the University Council for Educational Administration.

Dr. LaNear completed his Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis in 2005 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (also earning a Master of Science in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis at U.W. in 2004). Additionally, he graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law in 1994 with a Juris Doctor, and Missouri State University in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts in English.
