Before earning his PhD in Business Administration with an emphasis in Organizational Leadership at NCU, Jim DeLung, a retired City of Phoenix Police Sergeant, had a healthy training and development consulting business. But, according to DeLung, all that changed for the better in 2015 after he earned his PhD.
“It absolutely altered the trajectory of my career,” he said. “This degree didn’t just open doors for me, it helped me kick them in. It’s brought my staff, my company and me to a whole other level. It provided us with another level of legitimacy.”
DeLung was inspired by his father, a high school dropout turned PhD professor, to get his own PhD. In searching for a school, accreditation and flexibility were imperative. He explored traditional, blended and online institutions and NCU quickly rose to the top of the pack.
For DeLung, it was the quality of his mentors and the premier education that stood out the most during his time at NCU.
“We all want to be valued and validated for our work,” he said. “NCU gave me the scientific skills of leadership that I can blend with the validation needed by people to change their organization.”
