Northcentral University’s Lambda Eta Chapter of Delta Mu Delta Selected for a 2007–2008 Star Chapter Award by
the International Delta Mu Delta
Prescott, Arizona – August 18, 2008 — Northcentral University (www.ncu.edu),
an innovator in 100% online higher education, today announced that NCU’s Lambda Eta chapter of Delta Mu Delta has
been selected for a 2007–2008 Star Chapter Award. The selection was made by International Delta Mu Delta, headquartered
in Brookfield, Ill.
Northcentral University
was the first online institution recognized with a chapter by Delta Mu Delta, the International
business honor society, which actually revised its bylaws in order to do so after being approached by NCU. Although the first
to be so honored, the Lambda Eta chapter has paved the way for students at other online universities to be recognized as
“scholars among scholars.”
Being designated a “star chapter” is a genuine honor for Lambda Eta and a very unusual achievement for a chapter
in its first year. The Star Chapter Awards provide recognition to all chapters that meet or exceed national standards
for operation and administration of their chapter. Eligibility is decided by data from annual reports and central office
records. To be eligible for a Star Chapter Award a chapter must have met the following criteria:
- Completed at least one induction ceremony during the fiscal year of 2007-2008, ending June
30th, 2008. The Lambda Eta Chapter held 7 induction ceremonies and increased our membership by 165 members. This is an
increase of 2,750%!
- Elected a full slate of officers for the fiscal year. The Lambda Eta Chapter elected
the following student officers to a two-year term: Bill Hamersley, President; Ann Marie Ade, Vice President; Chris DeVine,
Secretary.
- Submitted annual and financial reports postmarked on or before a special early filing date
of July 15th. Lambda Eta Chapter reports were submitted by 7/14/08.
- Participated in the National Scholarship Program during the fiscal year with an application
from a student from the institution for consideration. The Lambda Eta Chapter had three participants in the National
Scholarship Program. One participant was awarded an honorable mention scholarship.
Because of the accelerated growth of this chapter, the Lambda Eta Chapter offered scholarships less than a year after its
inception. At the May 31 NCU graduation ceremony, 6 individuals were awarded $7,500 in tuition scholarships from Northcentral
University’s Lambda Eta Chapter. The following individuals were awarded scholarships:
Presidential Scholarship $3000 – Earl Burress
Provost Scholarship $2000 – Thuy-vy Ngo
Dean’s Scholarship $1,000 – Robert Uda
Honorary Scholarships (3) $500 - Samuel Sanders
Sandra Fitchett
Samuel Sudhakar
Star Chapter Awards will be presented an appropriate certificate of achievement and be recognized with letters to the
Dean of the Business School/College or Dean of Students, the Provost or Academic Officer and the President of the University.
In addition, an article will be published in the subsequent edition of The Vision, and all Star Chapters will be recognized at
the next Triennial National Meeting.

NCU is known for having more PhD students enrolled in its School of Business and Technology Management than
any other university—online or brick-and-mortar. To encourage growth at the undergraduate level, NCU has kept
tuition costs highly competitive, making NCU undergraduate degrees priced 30 to 50 percent lower than other
online institutions. Details can be found at www.ncu.edu/compare.
