Dr. Anthony R. Perry to lead the School of Psychology

Prescott, Arizona — Northcentral University (NCU) announced this week that Anthony R. Perry, Ph.D. has been appointed to chair the School of Psychology. Selected after a nationwide search, Perry joins NCU at a time of rapid growth for the 100% online institution and for its psychology program. He is assuming responsibility for the School from Dr. Chris Cozby who, as Psychology Research Professor, is returning full-time to the teaching and research he has long enjoyed.

We appreciate Dr. Cozbys service to NCU and at the same time welcome Tony Perry noted Dr. Claudia Santin, President of Northcentral University. Dr. Perrys academic background, combined with his experience in departmental administration will serve him well in his new role. The School of Psychology, with just over 800 Learners, is expanding along with the rest of Northcentral University, which has a current enrollment of 3800-plus students and is growing at an annual rate of 40 percent.

Dr. Perry comes to NCU from North Carolina A&T University, where since 1995 he served in a number of roles, among them Associate Professor of Psychology and Adjunct Professor of Industrial Engineering and Human Factors. While at North Carolina A&T, Perry was honored by students and faculty in his department on several occasions, among them a Best Teacher of the Year award and recognition for presenting the most paper and poster presentations at professional conferences with undergraduates as the primary authors.

Perry was often tapped for university and departmental committee work at North Carolina A&T. He was a member of the College of Arts & Sciences Research and Development Committee as well as the Arts & Sciences General Education Core Curriculum Committee. He also served as the College of Arts & Sciences Faculty Advisement Coordinator and oversaw the development of an Academic Advising Handbook for the College of Arts & Sciences.

Perry earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Cognitive Psychology at Brandeis University after completing a Predoctoral Research Fellowship at the National Institute on Aging. He was then awarded a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Southern California. Dr. Perry has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Applied Gerontology from California State University at Sacramento, where he went on to complete a Master of Arts in Experimental Psychology.

Dr. Perry is impressed with the enthusiasm and collegial atmosphere at NCU and is committed to continued growth of the School of Psychology while maintaining the strength of its programs. He also anticipates working with all of the Psychology Learners to ensure they receive the highest quality education so they can achieve their career and life goals.
