NCU Sponsors FBINAA Convention

Annual Event Draws 1,000 Law Enforcement Delegates to Toronto

July 25, 2006 Prescott, Arizona Northcentral University (NCU) met with Executive Board members and delegates of the FBI National Academy Associates at their annual convention July 1519, 2006 at the Sheraton Centre in Toronto CA. More than 1,000 delegates and their families attended events which included training seminars, exhibits, and social gatherings.

Northcentral University is an accredited 100% online university offering bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees in business, education, and psychology. The 100% online format with no campus residency requirement is particularly appealing to adults who work in professions, such as law enforcement, where shifts are long and schedules are irregular.

Chuck Jarrell, NCU Director of Marketing, attended the convention and noted, NCU is a sponsor of FBINAA and has partnered to offer NCU degree programs to their associates. The convention was an opportunity to meet face-to-face with law enforcement professionals from across the U.S. and Canada and re-affirm our support for the education partnership.

To become a member of the FBINAA, law enforcement personnel must be nominated and accepted to attend a rigorous 10-week training program at the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA. Once they graduate, they may join the FBINAA. Since the FBI Academys inception in the 1930s, more than 35,000 law enforcement professionals have graduated, and today more than 17,000 are FBINAA members.

The delegates were Chiefs of Police and other senior law enforcement officials the key decision-makers for their departments and agencies, said Bob Branch, NCUs Chair of the School of Business and Technology Management, who attended the convention to discuss NCU graduate specializations. Many of those specializations, including Homeland Security, Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Computer and Information Security, are of particular importance to law enforcement professionals today.

Delegates and their families were kept busy during the convention with daily seminars and activities for spouses and youth. A highlight of the convention was a 2-hour Tatoo, or military retreat, featuring military bagpipe and brass bands, native dancers representing Ireland, Scotland, Ukraine, and Korea, and the Toronto police motorcycle precision team.
