NCU Alum is Stratford University Provost
Prescott, Arizona—March 21, 2006 —Northcentral University is pleased to congratulate School of Business
alumnus Dr. Benjamin Davis on being named Provost of
Stratford University.
Stratford University, founded in 1976, offers classroom-based and online master’s, bachelor’s, and associate’s degrees in
business, hospitality and culinary arts, and technology through its campuses in Falls Church and Woodbridge, Virginia.
Stratford also offers graduate certificate programs to international students through Global Economic and Technology Exchange
of Xian, China.
Before he was recruited by Stratford University, Davis was Director of Academic Affairs for the University of Phoenix. Prior to
that he served as Dean of the College and Campus Director for Potomac College; as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at
Baltimore International College; as Executive Director of The Religious Coalition; as Regional Director for World Relief
Corporation; as the Washington Office Director for Evangelicals for Social Action; and as a Research Economist for the Executive
Office of the President. His first career was as an automotive engineer for General Motors.
Davis has earned education credentials as impressive as his work history. In addition to his Ph.D. in Business from Northcentral
University, he earned a Doctor of Ministry in ethics and theology from St. Mary’s Seminary and University. He also has three
Master’s degrees—one in Theology from the University of Nottingham, one in Economics from the University of Michigan, and an
M.B.A. from Northcentral University. Davis took only one Bachelor’s degree—albeit, with honors—in Economics, from Michigan.
Davis has over 80 publications, among them works for the United Nations, the Career College Association, the International
Reading Association, and Faith at Work. He has had a variety of educational materials published, including Forty Famous Black
Americans and Famous Documents: New Perspectives in History. His most recent textbooks are A Survey of World Cultures: The United
States and Canada and Economics: An Integrated Approach, published by Prentice Hall.
Northcentral University is honored to have Dr. Davis as one of its Ambassadors. Ambassadors are current and former NCU Learners
who help recruit and advise new students. His basic comment on NCU is illustrative: “My experience with Northcentral has been
nothing but outstanding. If there are three words that reflect my experience they are flexible, rigorous, and responsive.”
Davis lives in Columbia, Md. with his wife, Dr. Janet Marie (Gorden) Davis. They have two grown children, Leslie and John.
