Accreditation / Higher Learning Commission
"Education is not the filling of a bucket but the lighting of a fire." - William Butler Yeats
(1865-1939) Irish poet, dramatist
Why is accreditation important?
Northcentral University is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools: http://www.ncahlc.org/. The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) is an independent corporation and one of two commission members of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA), which is one of six institutional accreditors in the U.S. HLC accredits degree-granting post-secondary educational institutions in the North Central region.

Accreditation by the HLC provides assurance to the public, especially prospective students, that an institution has been found to meet HLC's clearly stated requirements and criteria and there are reasonable grounds for believing that it will continue to meet them.
Accreditation provides both PUBLIC CERTIFICATION of acceptable institutional quality and an opportunity and incentive for SELF-IMPROVEMENT in the accredited institution.
The process of accreditation provides the accredited institution with an opportunity for critical self-analysis leading to improvement in quality and for consultation and advice from persons from other institutions.
Northcentral has maintained continuous accreditation by The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools since 2003.
According to The Higher Learning Commission, an institutional accrediting agency such as HLC evaluates an entire educational institution in terms of its mission and the agency's standards or criteria. Besides assessing formal educational activities, it evaluates such things as governance and administration, financial stability, admissions and student services, institutional resources, student learning, institutional effectiveness, and relationships with internal and external constituencies.
